Let's sing and play in the old tune

Let’s sing and play according to the old tradition, a music and folklore event in Barban. It has been held once a year since 2008. The first meeting of cantadurs and musicians took place in 2008 as a kind of thanks to the late singer Romano Broskvar, who was also one of the founders of the Barban Cultural Association. The event features the mih, small and large roženica and sopelice. The songs are sung in pairs by two male voices, in pairs by one male and one female voice, singing by a male voice with a small roženica, singing by a group of singers and tarankanje by a group of singers with music on a large and small roženica. The work of the Barban Cultural Association is particularly important for the preservation of the characteristic singing in close intervals, that is, singing “thinly and thickly”, tarankanje, bugarenja and other methods, which are included as a special value on the UNESCO list of protected intangible heritage of humanity.
