Barban earrings
The replica earrings are made as an indigenous souvenir based on the original Barban earrings, which date back to the 11th century. The Barban earring was found at Gradina near Barban, and belonged to the costume of the ancient Croatian peasant population in the Barban area, at a time when Istria belonged to the Roman Empire. It is protected by registration in the Register of Cultural Properties of the Republic of Croatia, and its specimens are kept in the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula.
Did you know?
On the eve of “The 47th Race on the Ring” in collaboration with Zlatarna David, the “Barbanski rančin” was presented to the First Lady Sanja Musić Milanović. We are extremely pleased that Mrs. Sanja Musić Milanović recognized the value of the Barbanski rančin and decided to order this beautiful traditional one and present it to the Spanish Queen Letizia, and in this way the whole world heard about our beautiful earring from Barban, which now adorn many women throughout Croatia and hopefully beyond.
Most of us know about Šibenski botun or Konavle’s earrings Verižice… why not about Barban’s rančin?
