The Feast of fig and fig cake is a manifestation that has the fig in its center. The culture that has long been successful in this area and which has enriched the tables of our ancestors, has been a little bit forgotten and extruded in recent times. Visitors can see, taste and buy fig products, and get acquainted with many possibilities of using figs, and all of that is represented by producers of fig products, who are year by year more numerous. This event brings new contents every year, such as lectures, promotions and exhibitions related to the fig, and therefore gives visitors not only gastronomic experiences, but also raising awareness of the importance of this traditional Mediterranean culture. In addition to fig products, visitors can also try other local products and view Istrian souvenirs.
The 13th Feast of fig and fig cake will be held on Saturday, September 15th, starting at 2 PM on Barban’s main square. Come and taste delicious fig products, which, along with other local products and Istrian souvenirs, will be offered by numerous exhibitors. Salty and sweet dishes with fig as the theme will be presented by students of the School for tourism, catering and trade from Pula. For 5 PM a workshop how to make a fig cake is scheduled, while at 6 PM don’t miss the election of the best fig cake. Gourmet experience like no other will complement Luka Brgić and Eleonora Dobrović as part of the entertaining program.
